Louna Hosia, CELLO

Louna was born in Helsinki in 1981. She started her music studies first with piano, later with cello and at the age of seventeen baroque cello. She finished her bachelor’s degree at Sibelius Academy with Markku Luolajan-Mikkola in 2005 and master’s degree with Lauri Pulakka in 2007. She studied as an exchange student with Bruno Cocset at the ESMUC in Barcelona in spring semester 2005. She has attended masterclasses, with, among others, Laurence Dreyfus, Gaetano Nasillo, Roel Dieltiens and Phoebe Carrai. Louna has performed, recorded and toured with various ensembles in Europe including Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Opus X Baroque Orchestra, Sixth Floor Orchestra, Helsinki Cello Ensemble and Ensemble Recordanza. Louna has also recorded for the Finnish Broadcastig Company several times as a chamber musician and she teaches at Helsinki Music Institute. Louna’s instrument, a Storck, was made in Strasbourg in 1779. She has recently begun to play viola da gamba.
